Children's Book Illustrations

As a Graphic designer I'm often asked what inspires me? Different things inspire me all the time but at the moment it happens to be all things old. In my second-hand book collection there are a few books that contain some adorable children's illustrations. Here are a few of my favourites.

The first lot of illustrations are found in a Little Golden Book called 'A Book of God's Gifts' illustrated by Rick Schreter. How pretty is the colour palette and the patterns used in the children's clothing? Very vintage.

The second lot are from a book called 'The Illuminated Language of Flowers' illustrated by Kate Greenaway. Apparently these 'Victorian World' illustrations first appeared in a book called 'Language of Flowers' in 1884!

The last lot of illustrations are from Enid Blyton's 'Gay Street Book' illustrated by Grace Lodge. I love Grace's style of illustration. Her imagination jumps right off the page. And how cool is Brer Rabbit?
