Chic Pottery

I accidentally spent my Saturday afternoon admiring the talent of the exhibiting artists at the Warrandyte Pottery Expo.

The usual Saturday coffee date with my husband turned into a new found interest in pottery.

I have to admit I've never really had a burning passion for pottery but have always been able to appreciate all forms of art. This, however was not the pottery I expected to see. There were adorable tea cups, vintage displays and rustic style tableware.

Check out some of my faves below.

Lynley Northcott is the artist behind these adorable tea sets that are handcrafted and finished in 24-carat gold. I love the bold lines and colours. They look like something out of Alice in Wonderland. Devine!

The next collection is by artist Truly Southurst from Made by Truly. Her pieces are contemporary with delightful illustrations featured throughout. The curvy bowls and mugs are not only functional but beautiful to look at and not to mention charmingly displayed.

The last artist to feature is Juliet Widows. Her ceramics come in some beautiful turquoise tones and are all very organic in form. I especially like the mugs. There's something special about sipping your hot chocolate out of a rustic drinking cup.

Thanks ladies, for allowing me to feature your gorgeous pieces on my blog.

Second-Hand Books to Canvas Art

My latest obsession is second hand books. They're so pretty to look at and they're full of character.

On the weekend my husband and I were driving back from a lovely coffee date as I spotted a garage sale sign on the side of the road. As I do, I yelled 'Garage sale!' and being as wonderful as he is, he turned the car around and in we walked.

I scanned the place and found a cardboard box full of some vintage beauties.

I could hardly contain myself and convinced him I had to have them!

This love for second hand books escalated the other day when I found some old bibles at my local op shop. I used a bit of the old paper maché technique to create some vintage looking canvases!

I am delighted with my new little project.

Salsa Jar Bonbonniere

I got married last October and really enjoyed working on all the little details that made the day special.

One of the things I was particular about was my Bonbonnierre's. To tie in with the theme of my latin culture, we decided to jar our own batch of homemade salsa.

Thank God our wedding was an intimate one because this little project turned out to be quite time consuming but the results were definately worth it. Check out the process below.
